A typical bound fretboard has 38-42 fret ends that need the tang removed and filed so they fit and sit nicely. It is hard on the hands and not a fun task. Max's "UnTangler" makes this job so much easier, faster, with less hand fatigue and is a very welcome addition to the few tools dedicated to bound fingerboard fret prep.

"Luthier tested and luthier approved. Get that last little bit of tang off your fret accurately and efficiently without some crazy elaborate setup. The Untangler is simple to use, very well built and fast. Max had a few prototypes passed around to some of the world's top luthiers and repair people before he nailed this final design. Perfect tool for the job in my book, I'll use it for many years to come."

A very handy internal sanding tool from Max. Originally made by Frank Ford years ago, nobody made one to buy, until Max (“the merciful”) came up with a new design ❤️.

Max!!!!
I just de tangled a couple of guitars. Took a few tries to get it really dialled in and to get the feel. But now that all of that is sorted, it’s amazing. Love it.
Thank you for thinking of this.

Sometimes it’s all about the right tool for the job. Many of us fondly remember Frank Ford’s original idea of a reverse-polarized magnetic sander – I tried making one years ago that didn’t work very well. Max not only revived the idea and made it work – but made it better! The first time he showed it to me, I immediately bought four of them because I wanted one at every bench in the shop! The Roto-Sander is definitely the right tool for the job and there’s nothing like it!

"Max's UnTangler saved me lots of time on my latest refret. After an easy set up, this tool allowed me to complete a normally monotonous task very quickly. Accuracy and speed - this tool is worth it!"

“For years I had admired Frank Fords original design of something similar to this tool but never got around to making one. Max managed to make this accessible to everyone and upgraded the design. My forearm greatly appreciates the reduced amount of time spent inside a guitar!”

I first used the free version that Max offers in the LoothGroup and that works great. This pro version brings the tool to a whole new level, for it's adjustablility, durability and ease of use.
